Barry Humphries CBE (1934 -2023)
PBJ Management are deeply saddened to learn about the death of the great Barry Humphries in Sydney earlier today. PBJ had the privilege of representing the Australian comedy maestro for 25 years from 1995 onwards. A master of stage, screen and television, Barry was an erudite, elegant, deeply cultured and a wholly original talent – a global superstar no less , alongside his most renowned creation Dame Edna.
Through his performances and his writings he brought joy to many millions of people for over six decades. His biographer Anne Pender described Barry in 2010 as not only “ the most significant theatrical figure of our time …(but) the most the most significant comedian to emerge since Charlie Chaplin”. He had a rare genius and his like will never be seen again.
PBJ Management was proud to be associated with and work with this admirable artist and offer deepest sympathy to his wife Lizzie and to his family at this sad time.
